Project Overview

Consumers are eager to style themselves in a way that's consistent with their eco-friendly principles - but face the challenge of a complex and time-intensive process to evaluate and compare sustainable brands/prices across multiple platforms.

The Solution:

How might we design a sustainable shopping app to provide trend-conscious consumers with a user-friendly platform that not only simplifies the discovery of eco-friendly fashion alternatives but also educates and incentivizes making sustainable choices?

Tools Used: Figma / Figjam, Trello, Github, VScode, ChatGPT, Slack, Zoom

Process Overview

Problem Statement

We believe enhancing user experience with a streamlined way to compare sustainable alternatives in our app will help environmentally conscious yet style-savvy individuals achieve a more informed shopping experience, enabling users to make choices that are both fashionable and sustainable - saving them a lot of time and stress.

User Interviews

4 User Interviews Conducted & 7 Survey Responses

As user researchers, we want to understand the goals and motivations that consumers have behind shopping sustainably, and what challenges they face that we can address with new features.

Interview Recordings

Interview Questions

Common pain points that users had were a lack of plus size options, affordable items made of quality materials, and information on how items are sustainable. The fashion industry is often not very transparent about their practices requiring an overwhelming amount of research.

Competitive Analysis

We conducted a competitor analysis to see how our ideas and vision compare to similar existing apps and sites. Our goal was to pinpoint a competitive edge we could integrate that would make our app stand out amongst the rest.

We conducted the analysis on 4 companies (See Here).

Direct Competitors:

  • Project CECE
  • Urban Kissed

Indirect Competitors:

  • Wholesome Culture
  • Good on you

The first step of prototyping included the main pages of our app that we are envisioning, as well as a website prototype which will promote the app and serve as a platform to delve further into the mission and educate users on the why behind the brand.
